JJ’s Escondidos were inspired by the JJ Cale/Eric Clapton collaboration, Road to Escondido, which came about after Clapton asked Cale to produce his next album, but instead ended up recording it together. JJ’s Escondidos aim is to keep the name of JJ Cale alive, today and in the future through his music and also the Cale inspired Eric Clapton. JJ was born in 1938 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a little-known singer/songwriter until Eric Clapton heard ‘After Midnight’ which he recorded and went on to become a hit. This brought JJ into the spotlight and subsequently went on to be a major influence on Eric Clapton and many other major artists including, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia and Lynyrd Skynyrd. To many he was the master oflaid-back R & B and went on to record 14 studio albums with numerous hits including, Call Me the Breeze, Magnolia and Cocaine. At this performance JJ’s Escondidos will play many of JJ’s and Eric’s popular songs.
